There are some events in your childhood which will be always
etched in your memory. One such event was a Meena Bazaar event that happened in
my locality that is in Bhubaneswar. The theme was to cook different cuisines in your home and bring it
to the society club for selling in the various stalls already put up by the organizers.
Being in a huge dilemma over the item that our family had to cook, we finally
settled down for gulabjamun, after a firm assurance from my father who claimed
expertise in the sweet. He did not choose the usual GulabJamun Mix found in the
markets then but opted to make his own dough for the sweet. Once he was ready
with 100 Jamuns, we hurried to the stall to place them. Within no time the
jamuns relinquished .Seeing a surge in the demand we started yet again for
another 500 Jamuns and yet again as our stall was stormed by people.
After an hour or two we decided to call it quits and we went
on to buy some other cuisines made by the other families.
It was great fun participating and doing well in the event in Bhubaneswar . It was also good to communicate with the people of your society. I see a great
potential for these events to inculcate a sense of togetherness in your
society .
